And is easy to use!

Just a test scan to ensure everything works correctly - this is only with the epson software. Just a straight scan for the first one -


Thank you Larry. Now I've got no reason not to be shooting traditional B&W film. Perhaps tomorrow I'll pick up some FP4+ or maybe Pan-F?

Cool beans I am glad you got it up and running. You said you are using an non Windows system. What is it?

And with a little work it can look like this.

That is the thing about scanning you can make the same negative look like night and day or any twilight in between.

 You need some software to edit now.

Macbook. 2ghz dual core, 3gb ram, 320gb disk, OS X 10.6.4 It's about 3 years old but does what I need really well.

Have you looked at the Sticky here on the 3170 scanner? It was one of the first scanners many of us started with at Nelson.
