Like whoa!

"It is my belief that he brought these negatives with him for teaching purposes and to show students how to not let their negatives be engulfed in a fire," Photography expert Patrick Alt said.

Erm, yeah right.
 rolleyes

Apparently many do not agree that they are AA's work:

I suppose it could be suggested that the family might have a slight conflict of interest. Their revenues from his work in their possession depends on its finite availability. And any contemporary reprints from his work do too. But if someone has a substantial number of Adams' negatives, then the market is diluted.

Of course, they could also just not be his. I think the possibility of them being someone else's work is probably greater. Just because they are of the same area, etc. doesn't mean they are his. There are far more undiscovered photographers out there who spent just as much time as the great ones taking photographs of rocks and sticks and trees.

We all know that first hand, right (he says looking over his shoulder at the stack of boxes full of hundreds of negatives produced by his obvious but as yet undiscovered "genius")?

I agree with you, Jorn.

The family says they are fakes!

One article stated that they had an expert in clouds and snow formations look at the images and he concluded that they were shot on the same day that Ansel was known to have been at Yosemite.

Apparently, they are his earlier work before he found his mojo. Still worth a lot I suppose.

Fakes or not i like them and they are worth a few bucks more than $50.00 even if they are Joe Schmo.
