Geez, Scott!  Folks here talked you out of MF in favor of 35mm for the NYC trip, and now I'm gonna vote for MF over LF for this trip.   Your Yashica-Mat (and maybe Speedex) with a tripod should be equal to the task of doing "serious" compositions in the Blue Ridge and elsewhere. I would bring some E-6 in addition to color negative film.  Somehow the 8x10 seems more appropriate for a "Travels With Charley" venture rather than a vacation with family.  Just MHO, of course.  Are you renting an RV for the out-bound?  Sounds like a great trip.

Your point is well taken, James, and it may work out, for many reasons, that the Y-Mat is what goes with (along with the 20D and 17-40).  But my timing for a Steinbeckian sojourn is over, lest the wife wash her hands of me at some unforeseen juncture.  The kids have their own cameras, and love going picturin', and a chance to go off with them into the unknown sans wife (who would nix the LF gear in a heartbeat) is a rarity.

Now, again, it may not work out.  But the romance of the thing is just thrilling to me.  I want to try.

As far as vehiculation, I dunno yet.  Not an RV, and probably not anything near big enough.  The kids are avid readers, and we'll be taking the DVD player and the GameCube, in addition to DS's, iPods, and all manner of distraction.  Been on AAA all day plotting side trips.  Gonna be epic.

Thanks for your thoughts, James.

I cannot WAIT!  They look wonderful - can't wait to see them folded, and later, on the camera. cool cool

In all seriousness, Sandeha, you've got to be pleased with how these are turning out.

Wow Sandeha!  You just continue to amaze me with your talents.

That's going to look delicious on that big, beautiful Seneca.  Almost too much goodness!

Scott!  Clean out your inbox!  Tried to send you a message and it won't go thru.

Those bellows are beautiful.  Gorgeous stuff.

Pity you're not able to swing down thru South Texas -- a couple of people down here (Charles/Austinatious and myself) wouldn't mind meeting you and your family.

Sorry, Pete - just axed my inbox.  Wish there was an obvious way to DL all the messages, but I probably don't need 'em, anyway.

I think the farthest south we may get is Toledo Bend.  Now that we're flying, I don't think we'll have easy access to a car...

Waiting, waiting, waiting.  Bellows are in the US (since the 27th angry), but haven't made the 2.5 hour trip south yet...

Just checked (again) the USPS tracking page.  Bellows hit the local PO at 6:55 this morning.  Gonna be delivered today.  Now the only trick is getting back from dropping the boy off at lacrosse camp before the mail lady gets here!

Scott, you know what's been happening with me?  Lately, packages I've been expecting from overseas have been left at my house without the usual notice to pick up at the post office.  That happened with a camera that Carlos E sent me last month, and again with two eBay purchases from S. Korea and England.  You may end up getting lucky and find the package waiting for you when you get home, if you miss the regular delivery.

Well, they arrived, and I think they're going to work perfectly.  I'm presently gluing the front frame in plce.  Hope I'm doing it right... shocked
