I finally decided I would replace my 13-year-old flatbed/transparency scanner with an Epson V750M.
And when I decided, it was too late!  The Epson Canada site says they are out of stock.
Perhaps they'll come back into stock, but it seems more likely that they've discontinued the product.

So, I wonder: what other flatbeds are around that are designed to do good quality (larger than 35mm) transparency scanning?

Anyone have some advice?

Well I use the no wet mounting V700 but you can get a wet mount kit for it.

I've got the V700 as well & love it!  Would highly recommend the betterscanning.com 120 holder, however.  The one that comes with it is kinda flimsy.

Yeah, I think the V750 is just the V700 with Silverfast and the fluid adapter. The V700 comes with Photoshop Elements and of course, Epson Scan. I use Epson Scan with my scanner and it works just fine. Of course, none of this information does you any good if Canada has neither one.

B&H has both, and it sells the V700 for $499 (add to cart to get lowest price.) This may mean that there is a V800 in the nearish future or Epson could just be clearing out its holiday stock.

vistek's site says they have them in stock:

Thanks, all!  And Sebastian - I should have looked at Vistek:  thanks.

But I didn't realise that there was virtually no difference between the V700 (which is widely available in Canada, Jorn) and the V750.  So I may look more closely at that, especially given the $300 difference in price!

Well, there are tiny differences in coating, but I am not sure they are discernible in scans. Look here:

Thanks again, everyone. I've ordered the V700. I ordered it locally but I expect it'll be after Christmas before I see it since the dealer doesn't actually have it on hand.

Epson has always done a nice job with its flatbed scanners. I've always been a bit surprised that they never introduced a high-quality film scanner.
