Too dark. Detail are blocked up.  It would really snap if it had some side light to get those little highlights and shadows. It looks either over exposed or over developed. If you follow my way of doing things it would probably be both, just to make sure. Cheesy

Larry, I like it but I also agree with Glenn that some more detail could be shown.  There's so much texture evident in this sculpture, but it's lost in the darkness.

I am looking forward to trying out the D-11, also the Acufine when it arrives, hopefully tomorrow.

Sorry to come in so late, Larry.

If you're still mulling about this one, I think the white background contradicts the "sad" part of the message you're trying to convey.  My mind sees a dreamy/aloft/light message instead.

Larry, just my 2c. I find it very hard to make an interesting picture with a white background and dark subject, unless the subject is very compelling, for instance a human face portrait.

If you must do it, then make sure your subject stands out, your composition lines are tight and no distractions arise. Any white area making a shape will take the attention away.

In this case I'd suggest cropping out the left-upper area and a bit of the right side, to eliminate the white triangle at the top and  the white space to the right of the knee. Ideally, I'd go for even more selective focus to completely blur anything but that very interesting hand, with the texture that makes this picture.

You might even try processing this picture into a negative in PS or equivalent, and see what comes out.
