Okay, I am playing around with pinholes, working on a 4x5 pinhole camera that I have nearly finished, but the pinhole images so far are a little soft for my taste. So I think eh, what the heck - I will order one of those Lenox Laser pinholes and see what happens there. I fill out the form, get ready to order, and then whammy - $10 shipping for a pinhole! $10? They must pack it in a lead box! I have shipped things to Africa for $15 and they weren't the size & weight of a train-squashed dime. Ugh. No way. Back to the brass, the needle and the polishing for me.

Just ranting I suppose.

I bought one because I wanted a benchmark against which I could compare my own pin-drilled holes.  Turned out to be a poor decision.  In addition to the silly shipping fee, the company also was not offering a very good selection of diameters, so the hole I got was not optimal for my camera.  It was a waste of money for me.  I have seen some good work done with them, but I don't think there is enough improvement gained over the self-made holes to compensate for the aggravation.
For those who want to try something ready-to-wear, I've noticed lately that Zero Image 6x9 cameras are turning up on ebay for about half the original sales price.

There was a 4X5 Santa Barbara on the 'bay the other day at less than 30.00. I don't know if the fascination is wearing off or what, but prices on used ones is dropping.
